This was a great little bar. Maybe 60 people could fit in the place to smoke and drink at a time…at most. It wasn’t a dive, but never appealed to the Eurotrash or stockbroker crowd. I loved it. I made perhaps a dozen mixtapes for this place on East Fifth Street in NYC back in the late nineties to the early 2000’s. I met my wife through friends I met here at the restaurant across the street, “La Vagna.” The mix tapes were played on a deck that I donated after Pamela’s finally gave up the ghost. The tapes I made were mostly well regarded (with a few exceptions) and quickly got stolen by the staff. I have no idea if any of them still exist, but it was fun to make them. This was really my last hurrah for making variety tapes. Pamela sold the place. The bar even hired a DJ at some point. One of these days I’ll have to check out to see what’s there.
